Modern statistics show that women make up only 18% of computer science majors. HopperHacks wants to change this and encourage women to pursue computer science in the future. Our event is aimed to encourage girls to pursue STEM! Our event is all-female, genderqueer, or non-binary and we offer free food, swag and prizes. Along with this, we offer workshops and guest speakers and are open to everyone, regardless of experience! Refer to the link above for the sign up. We hope to see you at the event!
A hackathon is a 1-2 day event where people collaboratively work on a programming project. Hackathons can have themes and divisions. Most hackathons offer numerous coding workshops, so all are encouraged to participate, regardless of programming experience.
A pioneer in computer science, Grace Hopper encouraged diversity in STEM. Grace Hopper is the namesake of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, the world's largest gathering of women in CS.
